This is a case where a patient had a root canal on a molar and continued to have symptoms. The x-ray shows a residual root canal infection around the top of the front root, which appears as a dark area. A root amputation or resection of the involved root was performed and the root was removed from under the tooth. The extraction site was grafted with bone to enhance the healing. The patient healed uneventful.
